An Appreciation of
Liriodendron I first came to Liriodendron in the summer of 1998 to help with the publications for the 100th Anniversary Gala. It was love at first sight. What amazed me most was the warmth and life of the space. I'd seen other former residences, historical shells, musty places that were too fragile to enter or that had been stuffed with old furniture and cordoned off with velvet ropes. But Liriodendron was fresh and clean as a whistle. I felt as if I could slide down the banisters. And the faces of the Kelly family smiled from old photos lovingly restored and displayed. I had the sense that somehow the whole Kelly clan (with all nine children!) had left its aggregate spirit of fun and mischief for future visitors. I knew that I wanted to photograph the place—inside and out. And show it to the world. And so I have. Thanks for visiting, |
