The front porch of Liriodendron Mansion is covered by a trellis that in winter holds dry branches, and most of the year, a leafy canopy. But right now, the pale purple wisteria flowers are open and their perfume is intoxicating. Fat black bees find a brief paradise among the open buds. The buzzing pleasantly blocks other sounds. It is one of the most wonderful springtime places to be.
The mansion is open for tours and Gallery exhibits on most Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., but you can walk the grounds and visit the front porch almost any time you like (except when private events such as weddings are taking place). We’ll send you an e-mail update if you join our Wisteria Watch list so you'll get a special notice and know just when to visit. Visit now.
