Updated 2008 February 26.
Work has been completed on the first floor restroom (see details below).
The new access ramp (see below) is in place, awaiting a railing and
landscaping, but is not yet ready for use. An announcement will be
placed here when the ramp is ready. Access to the second floor Gallery
will still be limited (see below).
Updated 2008 January 6.
Our new ADA-approved ramp and expanded first-floor restroom are nearly
done. Photos will be posted here when the work is completed.
Original post 2007 October 20.
As a historical building, Liriodendron Mansion has limited accessibility
for handicapped guests. Specifically, the second floor Gallery rooms are
reached only by two sets of stairs.
An ADA-approved ramp leads from the handicapped parking area to a first
floor side door wide enough for wheelchair access. Areas that are
accessible include the first floor rooms, displaying photos and
artifacts on the history of the mansion and of the Kelly family who
built the home in 1898, and first floor rooms and outdoor spaces used
during weddings, receptions, meetings, and occasional special events.
There is a restroom on the first floor.
We are pleased to announce that plans for an attractive new ramp and
widening of the first floor restroom have been awarded and are in the
process of being scheduled. During construction, a temporary ramp will
provide access to the first floor.
The second floor Gallery rooms will remain, for the foreseeable future,
to be under limited accessibility by way of the two staircases.
